Get A Jump Start With Our Transition To Work Service!

2Connect Youth & Community is a registered provider with an Australian government-funded employment initiative, Transition To Work. As a registered provider, we deliver pre-employment support to young people aged 15-24 years, as well as post-employment support to help you transition into work or education smoothly.

How Can Joining Up Benefit You

  • Provide you (eligible young people aged 15-24) with intensive support from Youth Support Workers to meet your education and employment goals
  • Work WITH you to set your own goals & create your own job plan
  • Empower you with skills & information to be job-ready or to get connected with education
  • Provide you with help to overcome any barriers or hurdles you may be facing, & link you with specialist personal support programs eg. mental health, family & financial
  • Assist you to secure and sustain employment, apprenticeship, traineeship, work experience or education, and we will follow up to make sure it’s going well
  • Provide a comfortable space and in some situations, it is possible for us to travel and meet in a location more convenient for you
  • For eligible young people, we have access to financial assistance for materials or other services to aid in employment or education where this is needed (brokerage).

Check Your Eligibility

To participate in Transition to Work you must be:

  • Between 15-24 years old 
  • Residing within the Georges River, Bayside, Sutherland, part of Canterbury-Bankstown, Burwood & Inner West areas and surrounds

Either:

  • an Australian citizen, or
  • a holder of a permanent visa, New Zealand  Special Category Visa, or Nominated Visa (includingTemporary Protection Visa or Safe Haven Visa).

You must also:
• not be in receipt of Activity Tested Income Support Payment, and;
• not already in provider-delivered employment services, and;
• be an Early school leaver OR be disengaged from school (4 weeks or longer) or have exemption from legal requirements to attend school (or can obtain from the school)
• be unemployed or underemployed (less than 8hrs/wk)

*Young people with HSC certificate or Cert 3 may be eligible if they have got certificates 6 months ago (or if First Nations, young people can join immediately after finishing HSC)

We work with employer and education partners within the Georges River, Bayside, Sutherland, Belmore, and Inner West community to provide jobs and education to young people.  Wage subsidies are available for Employers who employ eligible young people.

  • We assist you to recruit young employees (at no cost) who are ready to work
  • We connect young employees to all job types (work placements, internships, traineeships, apprenticeships, and all paid employment including casual, contract, part-time, full-time work)
  •  We work with you to understand what you are looking for in an Employee, find the right young person to meet your business needs and equip them with the necessary skills for your business.
  • We provide access to employer partner benefits such as wage subsidies for eligible young people, to help you take on new starters, and to cover hiring and training costs.
  • Have peace of mind that your employee will be supported by one-to-one youth employment guidance, mentoring, and post-employment support so they transition to work smoothly and so that your expectations are being met.

How Can Hiring Through Transition To Work Help?

  • We connect young employees to all job types (work placements, internships, traineeships, apprenticeships, and all paid employment including casual, contract, part-time, full-time work)
  • We provide ongoing support, guidance and mentoring to candidates to prepare them for employment with you.
  • We assist you to recruit young employees (at no cost) who are ready to work
  • Have peace of mind that your employee will be supported by one-to-one youth employment guidance, mentoring, and ongoing post-employment support so they transition to work smoothly.
  • We work with you to understand what you are looking for in an Employee, find the right young person to meet your business needs and equip them with the necessary skills for your business.
  • We provide access to employer partner benefits such as wage subsidies, services and networks. Employers are offered a youth wage subsidy for eligible young people, to help you take on new starters, and to cover hiring and training costs.
  • Post-placement support will be provided to ensure that your expectations are being met and that it is a job successful placement.
